Discuss this workshop

Join one of North America's most successful wildlife photographers as he leads you to the amazing wildlife and scenics of Yellowstone National Park.

DATES: September 22-25, 2014

Fall in Yellowstone NP is an exciting time. Bears have entered hyperphagia so they feed constantly, preparing for hibernation. Most of the deer species are in full rut with giant bull elk bugling and chasing females. Pronghorn bucks gather their harems and chase off the competition. Wolves are active in the early mornings in Lamar Valley as the young pups join the pack to hunt their prey. Bison herds roam the meadows as autumn colors return after a summer of love. The air has the smell of changing seasons and winter is just around the corner. This is Yellowstone National Park in its prime.

We cruise the Madison River in the early morning looking for bull elk and their harem. The cool morning air greets us as we make the first of many wildlife images. Later, as the day warms, we stroll down one of the many boardwalks to get abstract shots of the mineral deposits as steam rises all around us. Old Faithful erupts on time and fills our cards with memorable images. Join Nikonians Academy and Jim and Kathy Stamates for 4 wild days to learn, experience, and capture the essence of Yellowstone National Park in the Fall.

This is an intense 4 days of photography. We will position ourselves each day before dawn for the best light and best wildlife or landscape options. We will visit the many icons of Yellowstone including Yellowstone Falls, Old Faithful, Grand Prismatic, Mammoth Hot Springs and more, while keeping a keen eye for wildlife along the way. Each day ends with our cards filled with exceptional images. We eat lunch as a group at one of the local restaurants with time to socialize and get to know fellow enthusiasts. Instruction will be in the field with no strenuous hiking.

It is our goal to get you into the very best positions in order to photograph the best animals at the best time of day. Jim and Kathy have been photographing in Yellowstone for decades and know the area extremely well.
