Photographic adventures in Banff National Park bring you face to face with nature, jagged mountain peaks rippling into the distance and thickly forested alpine valleys. Here, you’ll share the excitement with your fellow Nikonians for a two-day high involvement photographic workshop.

The workshop begins at the Meeting Location in Banff, AAL with a review of the workshop agenda and the Banff area. We’ll also be covering the following key points:

• Photography procedures and tips for shooting in the Banff area

• Safety procedures for being in the Banff National Park

• Understanding the Exposure Trifecta

• Photographic composition tips

• Pre-visualization techniques

• Water, water and more water

1:00 p.m. to late afternoon

We’ll depart from the hotel for an afternoon of photography in the Banff National Park.

Early morning Sunrise Shoot at:

Lake Louise – Canada’s “Diamond in the Wilderness� followed by photography in the Banff National Park.

We’ll meet at the Banff meeting location for a digital workflow techniques workshop.

We’ll start in the classroom with a multi-media presentation before heading out to photograph in Banff National Park.

May 24, 2008

Sunrise and early morning shoot in the Banff National Park. (Lakes and Reflections)

1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.

We’ll return to the meeting location to process your images from the morning shoot. The workshop will conclude with a slide show of everyone’s favorite photographs

Important: Banff, AL is located at 4537 feet elevation. The field shooting locations will require easy to moderate (Johnston Canyon) hiking conditions with early morning (one hour before sunrise) and late evening (one hour after sunset) location shoots. The day is long, but the location is inspiring. We will take a mid-day break and return to the hotel for several hours for lunch and rest before departing for the afternoon and evening shoot. Participants should be in good physical condition and are capable of hiking at altitude and carrying their own photography gear. Sturdy hiking boots are essential. Early mornings in the Rocky Mountains are cool and require a warm jacket, gloves and hat.

Note: In order to participate in this workshop you will be required to sign a liability release form before the workshop begins.

The workshop pricing includes the training and resources, but does not include food and lodging. You will need to book a room at our hotel (see venue list). We will be carpooling to and from our photo locations.
