Discuss this workshop
New Mexico is a photographer's paradise with crystal clear skies, dramatic landscapes, and amazing cultural heritage. Join us as we explore this beautiful state and follow in the footsteps of renowned artists such as Ansel Adams and Georgia O'Keeffe.
We'll put our camera gear to the test while photographing some of the most austere landscapes in the USA. Our intrepid group will shoot sunrises on the incredible white sand dunes of White Sands National Monument, as well as Bandelier National Monument, Tent Rocks National Monument, and the stunning Rio Grande Gorge Bridge.
Our ANPAT will also include photographing cultural icons in Sante Fe, Taos, and Albuquerque. We'll shoot the famous San Francisco de Asis Church and other adobe missions and pueblos.
One of the highlights of this trip will be an optional hot air balloon ride over Albuquerque. We'll depart at sunrise with our cameras, then float through the air while snapping images of the landscape and the other balloons in our private group. After our flight, we'll land for a champaigne toast and a light continental breakfast. Added cost for optional flight is $165 to $175 depending on the number of seats bought, so we are pricing it at $175 to avoid last minute cash shortages.
Get your kicks on Route 66 as we photograph this American classic highway's eclectic mix of old diners, hotels, and wide-open vistas as far as the eye can see. Route 66 is one of America's classic highways and has been photographed by the masters.
Join Nikonians founders Bo Stahlbrandt (bgs) and J. Ramon Palacios (jrp) and Mike Hagen (Mike_Hagen), Nikonians Academy Director, in this 12th edition of the Annual Nikonians Photo Adventure Trip (ANPAT). The ANPAT is the Nikonians field event of year.

New Mexico has an amazing variety of photography opportunities and is one of the USA's great travel destinations.
Our plan is to photograph the following areas and events as possible (locations and activities may vary due to weather and access):
- White Sands National Monument
- Sante Fe
- Albuquerque Balloon Fiesta
- Bandelier National Monument
- Very Large Space Antenna Array
- Old Town Albuquerque
- Tent Rocks National Monument
- Classic Route 66
- Chaco Canyon National Historic Park
- Bosque del Apache NWR
- Ghost Ranch
- Lots more
We'll be photographing sunrises and sunsets every day, as well as mid-day photo destinations that will present us with myriad of stunning challenges and opportunities.
Make sure to bring your tripods for phenomenal astro photography under New Mexico's starry skies. There will be ample opportunity to shoot star trails during our adventure. The American SW is a region with limited population, so it offers a very dark and pollution-free sky to further challenge us with night astro photography.
Friday October 19th, will culminate with our group dinner and photo presentation, showcasing the best of everyone's photographs during the week.
