Discuss this workshop

Come with us to celebrate the 17th year of the Annual Nikonians Photography Adventure Trip (ANPAT) this spring, the Nikonians event of the year, this time in Moab, Utah, our central base for exploring some of the most iconic and unique natural areas in the national park system, for a full week of photography, shop talk and camaraderie.

We’ll spend the week in the area photographing scenic landscapes at the peak of the blooming of desert flowers.

Arches National Park is a quite a gem of a park just a few miles from Moab. Having the densest concentration of natural stone arches in the world, the park is very rich with arches and geological features that make it the place for iconic images of stunning red rock formations.

More important for a spring ANPAT, Arches National Park is loaded with flowers and this trip is timed for the peak of the bloom season. Stunning desert flowers make a wonderful foreground for the sandstone sculptures of the landscape.

Arches provides some opportunities for short hikes and walks into the landscape for an intimate view of desert flowers, wildlife, and the wonderful scenery.

Canyonlands National Park is one of the largest and most remote parks. There we’ll focus on the Islands in the Sky, along with Dead Horse Point State Park.

Canyonlands provides a larger scale and a more expansive view of the landscape with great overlooks for sunrise and sunset. You’ll even see tracks of dinosaurs.

Not to be missed is Mesa Arch – probably the best known formation in the region.

There is plenty to fill a week of great photography in Moab. This is a perfect trip with a fabulous opportunity to make some great images while enjoying the company of friends, living ther Nikonians motto: Share, Lear, Inspire.
