Master HDR Photography

Master the secrets of High Dynamic Range Photography and learn new techniques for creating amazing HDR images.

For years, photographers struggled with how to go about capturing the full range of light in a scene when film only could record a fraction of what our eyes saw. Ansel Adams took the well-known steps of Zone System in compressing or expanding the tones in a scene to match that of the final print. But now with digital, we can do the color equivalent of the Zone System by using High Dynamic Range Photography in capturing dramatic and not-so dramatic scenes that are then rendered into realistic and at times surreal visions of colorful imagery.

This workshop, taught by Nikonians faculty, brings the confusing world of High Dynamic Range (HDR) Photography into an easy and manageable process that in turn opens your photographic eyes into the explosive potential that awaits you. This workshop, which includes classroom and in-the-field instruction, begins with understanding the technical infrastructure of the HDR process, delving into the digital aspects of the methods, followed by a step-by-step explanation of how to go about creating your own HDR images. From pre-visualization to exposure methods to post-production to the digital workflow to the evaluative comparisons between software options, this workshop explores the whole HDR phenomenon and will de-mystify the process.
