Greg Stangl

Professional photographer Greg Stangl is a veteran photographer, writer, and educator. Greg earned his Master’s Degree in Photography in 1985. He started his career as a photojournalist for a daily newspaper in 1969 and quickly rose to the level of Chief photographer. He left the newspaper in 1976 to start his own studio, The Village Photographer and it was soon one of the top producing studios in the mid-west. After 32 years in business, Greg sold the studio and was hired as Director of Photography at HR Imaging Partners where he managed a staff of 200 photographers and 400 photography assistants.

Greg began his training career in the 80’s where he was on the faculty of two local colleges teaching photography, photojournalism, and composition. After winning national awards for his portraiture, Greg soon became a regular on the professional photographer teaching circuit and to date has taught in 45 US states and in 7 foreign countries.

Articles by him have been published in 10 professional photography magazines and he has had numerous nationally award winning photographs. His work has been displayed on the cover of the Professional Photographer magazine and at Epcot Center in Florida.

Greg has also won two An-Ne awards for his studio marketing programs. The An-Ne is the top marketing award given by the Professional Photographers of America.

Greg’s teaching style is a mixture of warmth, humor, and professionalism while delivering a content-rich workshop.  He has written a detailed workbook for each of his classes that free student’s hands from extensive note-taking. Thousands and thousands of photographers from across the globe have enjoyed Greg’s workshops, seminars, and programs.

One of his students recently commented that "taking a class from Greg was like sitting in a coffee shop with a good friend learning about photography."

Greg has been a life-long Nikon user and can’t wait to share his extensive knowledge with you.

The Nikonians Academy is very proud to have Greg as a member of its faculty.
